Three Billy Goats Gruff Reimagined

Three Billy Goats Gruff Reimagined

Inspired by the classic folktale The Three Billy Goats Gruff, this piece explores visual storytelling through a limited palette of black, white, and teal. The three goat siblings sit peacefully atop a bridge, fishing together beneath a “Beware of Troll” sign. The goats, the sign, the fish, and the water beneath are rendered in black to immediately draw the viewer’s eye.

But the real twist lies in the bridge itself. On closer inspection, the troll isn’t lurking beneath—it is the bridge. This subtle reveal invites viewers to look twice, rewarding attention with a layered narrative. The piece plays with perception and pacing, using contrast and composition to guide discovery. It reflects my interest in reinterpreting familiar stories with emotional nuance and visual intrigue.
