I recently wrapped up work for a new illustrated book, which is coming out next year in Romania. The style I used was a new experiment for me, quite different from my previous work, but I really enjoyed it. I worked with ink and a nib pen to create a total of 11 full-page illustrations and 6 spot illustrations, and I am very excited with the outcome!

The challenge with this project was to offer good quality illustrations for quite a small budget, but at the same time create them in a technique that would be suitable for a certain printing machine, that only renders high contrasts between black and white. In this case working with pencil was not an option, because all the delicate grey tones would have been lost, so I knew I had to work with ink. The client was very open to whatever style I envisioned so I chose to play with white spaces and contrasting hatchings.
