This emotions sheet was created to deepen my understanding of Molly Malone’s emotional range and to ensure her character could carry the nuanced storytelling required for a children’s book adaptation of the Irish folk song Molly Malone. As the story gently introduces themes of mortality, it was essential that Molly’s expressions convey warmth, vulnerability, and resilience in a way that feels authentic and accessible to young readers.
 

These studies allowed me to explore how Molly’s anthropomorphic features could be stylized to evoke empathy. The sheet also served as a guide for maintaining emotional continuity across scenes, helping to reinforce the story’s tone and Molly’s role as a comforting, relatable figure.
