Nathan Shelton

I’m a UK-based illustrator with 25+ years experience creating work for a wide variety of clients. I specialise in clean, characterful  illustration, creating bold, engaging artwork used across branding, campaigns, publishing and digital platforms.

Within the children's book world I help authors and publishers turn manuscripts into engaging, fully illustrated picture books. My work focuses on expressive characters, warmth and visual storytelling that captures the imagination of young readers. I aim to create illustrations that don’t simply decorate the story, but actively help bring the narrative and personalities on the page to life.

I work closely with authors throughout the process, from early character development and page planning through to finished artwork ready for publishing. I particularly enjoy working with first-time authors, helping guide them through the illustration process and turning their manuscript into a complete children’s book.

What I enjoy most is getting the detail right. I take real pride in crafting artwork that not only looks good, but works hard for the client.
