David Oates

I am a published writer and illustrator. My first two books, The Imagination Thief and The Dream Hoarder, follow Eva and Toby's adventures as they battle against mysterious foes in a faraway land. 

I am currently set to start my Masters in Children's Book Illustration at ARU in Cambridge. I'm really excited at the prospect of working with other professionals and working at the University that launched the careers of many illustrators who I admire. 

I work digitally predominantly these days using Procreate to create textures using multiple layers and brushes.  I like to experiment and create my textures, backgrounds, and brushes as well.  I love working on a setting and using light to good effect in my work.  

I am available for work on book covers, middle-grade fiction illustrations, and picture books.
