Kristin Abbott-MacLaren
Kristin MacLaren-Abbott was struck with an epiphany while helping with storytime in the preschool classroom with one of her children. She realized that she loved storytelling, loved children's books, loved spending time thinking of ways to amuse children. After her third child was born she changed careers, entered art school graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2006 with her degree in Illustration. She has produced a steady stream of commissioned illustration work, book covers, picture books, illustrations for both educational and commercial customers. She now works as a concept artist for the Themed Entertainment Industry designing special events like holiday festivals, Ice and Lantern Festivals, special Holiday Events, props and sets for amusement parks, zoos, museums and other entertainment venues. Also, once upon a time she received a BA in American Studies (1988) from Stanford University and worked for a while as a journalist.
