I consider myself a problem solver and a storyteller. I love the challenge that comes with telling a story in very tight box while still creating something unique and original. Color and light are the elements of art that I enjoy illustrating the most. My images rely on a delicate balance of shape, value, color, hue, temperature, edge control and drama to make my images come to life! I love off beat topics like dinosaurs, cowboys, aliens, and the weird and unusual.
I am an illustrator and college instructor living in New Jersey. Working as an childrens book illustrator has allowed me to bring stories to life and entice readers to engage with content. I have had the opportunity to create beautiful and attention-getting images, but also to help impart information and express complex ideas.
I've loved art since I was a kid, so I spent my whole childhood drawing and painting on anything I could get me hands on. I especially loved comics and superhero’s, putting together my first portfolio at the age of five. I copied and traced Marvel superheroes with meatballs for hands (since I couldn’t draw fingers). Growing up, I chose a job in which I could play with illustration, shape, typography, painting, drawing, conceptual thinking and design strategy as well as teaching, instructing, supporting and mentoring student who love the same things I do. For over 20 years I have been teaching in New Jersey and I love spending my time sharing what I know with students who want to follow a similar path.
