This is the cover of a book that Shelley illustrated for her friend Charlie Hoessle, who was the director of the Saint Louis Zoo for twenty years.  Charlie headed up the Herpetarium at the zoo before becoming the zoo director, and pages of the book describe how he came to love snakes and amphibians, as well as creatures of all kinds.
