I grew up in the midwest climbing trees, playing in the crick, catching frogs and drawinging (apart from all the school stuff). I loved to draw cartoons, animals and painting scenery with my mom and grandparents. I pursued drawing and painting for my college degree which was just about the time computers were starting to become more popular, but I chose the more fine art approach. I lean more towards a whimsical Earnest Shepherd style with my tree drawings, Norman Rockwell style with my kids paintings and photorealistic painterly style when it comes scenery and portraits. I designed carpets for a couple years which was fascinating using CADD and Photoshop. I moved to Seattle, WA around 2004 and jumped into the world of teaching Preschool because I love working with kids and reading them the books I loved reading as a kid.  I love doing art, music, and science with them. If there was a project that I couldn't find a coloring page for I would (still do) just draw it out and copy it for them to color. Drawing color pages of animal habitats, animals, scenery, dinosaurs, ocean life - ie. difference between and sail fish and a sword fish etc. Its fun and great to see the kids eyes light up learning and soaking up information. I also love getting my hands "dirty" with paint and teaching the kids different painting methods.

That being said, with lots of encouragement from family and friends, I've started pursuing illustration. I've illustrated one book- Brian and the Storm by Van Chestnutt as well as two young adult books Heart of the Dragon and Blood of the Dragon by Jay Pearson. I just finished up the illustrations for a book by Jeff Denoncour  that came out June 27,2023 "Sword & Bow".  I look forward to more illustration opportunities in the near future.
