Rico Schacherl

I am an illustrator and cartoonist (both comic strip and editorial) of over 30 years experience, living and working in South Africa. I specialise in off-beat and humorous illustrations done in both traditional pen, ink and watercolours and digital media. A large part of my work that I am really passionate about, involves illustrations for a wide range of science, literacy and environmental education projects for children and young adults.

I am open to new projects, both books and individual commissions -- my favourites are funny animals doing zany stuff that usually only we humans get up to. Local South African clients such as Jive Media Africa and the Nali'bali national reading-for-enjoyment campaign (isiXhosa for “here’s the story”)

International clients have included Happy House, Seoul, S. Korea, Limonade Publishing in Switzerland and Highlights High Five magazine in the USA.
