So I'm now officially an award-winning illustrator, and I couldn't be more proud of author Jim Sutherland and publishing house Morning Dove Press. The book tells the story of the relationship between a young boy searching for his long-lost parents and an old, empty house who's been waiting for its owner, the Captain, to return from sea.

The story is very emotive, and for me as an illustrator the challenge (which I relished) was to visually convey the emotions without ever showing the face of the young boy.

It's no surprise to me that the book has won this award and I'm sure that there are many more to come.
