Laura Watson has been working pretty regularly with Chirp magazine for the past few years and the assignments are always such a treat! This story for Chirp’s June “Reptile Issue” (written by Celia Barker Lottridge) was no exception. Turtle and friends are excited to participate in a new summer day camp, but Turtle’s slow pace means he can’t get there to enjoy the day with his friends until the day is over! Luckily, Turtle’s slow pace helps him discover a backup plan for the whole camp when a rainy day threatens their fun. It was so much fun creating these little characters and showcasing their differences, with the reveal being that sometimes differences act as superpowers!
