Change of direction

I've spent most of my career creating development and conceptual work for the animation and game industry. More recently I've been illustrating children's picture books. The latter is something I still fully intend to continue but I have decided to return to my roots and embrace my inner cartoonist.

When I was just 16 I was offered a job with DC Thompson, the producer of the Beano and Dandy. I knew very early on that I was meant to be a cartoonist and they seemed to agree. But as a 16 year old mummy's boy I was too scared to move a couple of hours north to Dundee and I regretfully declined that amazing offer.

I continued to work on my own cartoon strip 'The Birds' some of which you can see in my gallery and was encouraged by a legend of UK cartoon strips the authour of Beau Peep and A Man Called Horace, Roger Kettle who was responsible for putting another few years into my sails and driving me onward.

Fast forward to now, 39 years on and I'm finally getting back to what I know.

That means pen and ink with a soft watercolour style. I've almost completed my first children's picture book in this style. The author is very happy and I have to say, so am I.

So, whether your project is a graphic novel, a comic, a cartoon strip or a regular picture book/ chapter book, I can give your words a unique visual layer, so let's have a chat.
