When a young hedgehog is whispered awake by excited fireflies, you know adventure is in the air. Soon enough, two other night time animals are woken by the same feisty fireflies and together they join the hedgehog and an owl to follow them as they fly purposefully into the darkness of the woods.

This is story I've written and started the illustrations for as a portfolio piece/story idea to show that the night-time doesn't have to be scary and mysterious. As an artist, I'm also passionate about nature and want young readers to know that while they sleep there's stories and adventures going on with the nocturnal creatures all around them.

The story came about after reading that foxes and badgers often share the same homes, and it got me thinking about all the other friendships and neighbours that greet each other at the start of each night while we get ready for bed. Like I say, night time doesn't have to be scary - it can be just as fun and adventurous as the day time!
