A 2026 LIBRARIAN FAVORITE AND TEACHERS FAVORITE BY THE CHILDREN'S BOOK COUNCIL
Every year, THE CHILDREN'S BOOK COUNCIL (CBC), a nonprofit trade association of children's book publishers in North America, comes out with its list of top books for Kids, Librarians, and Teachers. With a mission of supporting the industry and promoting children's books and reading, we are thrilled to announce that PASSOVER ON EVEREST has made the esteemed lists for Librarians and Teachers.
Passover on Everest is a nonfiction picture book based on the true story of Nikki Bart and her mother, Cheryl, a Jewish mother-daughter mountain-climbing team. Nikki loves both mountain climbing and celebrating Passover with her family. As they work toward their goal of climbing the highest mountain on every continent, they face their greatest challenge: climbing Mount Everest during Passover.
This book, written by Rachelle Burk, illustrated by Craig Orback, and published by Intergalactic Afikoman is a true story about kindness across cultures. Orback is an illustrator who has published dozens of books for major publishers and education markets, building a career around visually telling historical subject matter and true stories.
"Orback’s drawings, which combine the feel of documentary photographs with a comics-style digital effect, capture both the grandeur of the setting and the deep human connections that define the holiday."―Publishers Weekly
