Kristy Lankford is an artist, illustrator, writer, and art teacher living and working in the northeastern part of the United States. She has her MFA in illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia as well as her BA in studio art from Boston College. Her primary materials are mixed media including watercolor, gouache, acrylic, color pencil, and digital media. She has experience writing, illustrating, and designing children's books. She has worked for traditional publishers as well as independent publishers. Her illustration work is notable for it's use of color as well as it's layers of material. Readers of all ages will enjoy the whimsy and delightfulness of her settings and characters.
In June of 2021, Kristy self-published her first children's book "I Don't Like You" (ISBN: 978-1-7368377-1-9) as author, illustrator, designer, and publisher. "I Don't Like You" tells the story of two people, me and you, and the first time they meet. As you can guess, based on the title, their first meeting does not go well. "You are different and so - I don't like you." Well, that doesn't sound very nice. I think you'll find a happier ending than that. This story has themes of kindness, new friendship, and second chances. The book is for sale on her website.
Aside from making art and teaching art every day, Kristy loves to spend time with her husband and two young studio assistants. They love to walk in the woods, make delicious food, explore new places, and, of course, make lots of art.Read Interview
