My name is Andrea Turk and I am an Illustrator.
I originate from Northern Ireland where I gained a BA (Hons) in Fashion and Textiles. London was my next home for 12 years working for various Children's companies and travelling all over the world working with factories and researching trends.
I have spent a further 16 years creating Surface patterns for the Children's market. My artwork has sold to American Greetings, Paperchase, Hallmark, Papyrus, Pet Smart, Old Navy, Carters, Kids ii, International Greetings, Jo-Ann Stores, Hobby Lobby, Barnes and Noble, Disney, Warner Bros., and Design House Greetings to name but a few.
Several years ago, I illustrated some very simple books for Creative Teaching Press and this changed my direction. 2020 has been a year of discovery learning to write children's picture books as well as how to illustrate them.
My style is quirky and textural. I work digitally and traditionally using watercolour, gouache, inks, hand-painted collage, and pencils. I love the whole process of thinking through the concept and then using the time to really consider the techniques of traditional methods.
I currently live back in Northern Ireland with my husband, two dogs, and a cat.
