The bear was tricked into putting his long luxurious tail into the ice to catch a fish.  Redfur the sly fox convinced him to try to catch fish that way. But that was only so the bear would lose his beautiful tail. The sly fox was jealous of the bear's beautiful tail. This did not end well for poor Bjorn.
