Jim Caputo
Since graduating from art school in 1986, Jim has worked for several ad agencies and design studios as an art director, graphic designer, and illustrator. Illustration has always been a passion of Jim's and in 1998 he opened Groggy Dog Studios.
Once he landed an editorial illustration for the Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition, Groggy Dog was up and running. Other clients have included Harcourt, Llewellyn Publishing, Scholastic, Compass Point Books, Guideposts, Muse magazine, Bayard Press' chickaDEE magazine, Ideals Publications, Houghton Mifflin, Norwood House, and Creative Teaching Press. "As a kid, I was always reprimanded for daydreaming and now I'm getting paid for it. I love being an illustrator!"
After 10 years of working as an art director by day and an illustrator by night, Jim decided to make illustration a full-time gig in 2007 and work out of his home studio.
He left Philadelphia where he went to school and moved to Orlando in 2000. In his spare time, he enjoys physical fitness, going to movies, reading, and spending time with his two dogs, Donovan and Lumi. All of which provide an endless amount of inspiration.
